A full-day tour of Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary, Sun Bear Conservation Centre, and the Rainforest Discovery Centre provides an immersive wildlife experience. Start at Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you’ll observe efforts to rehabilitate and release orphaned orangutans, including their feeding sessions. Next, visit Labuk Bay to see the distinctive proboscis monkeys in their natural habitat. Then, head to the Sun Bear Conservation Centre to learn about the smallest bear species and their conservation. Conclude your day with a visit to the Rainforest Discovery Centre, where you can explore canopy walkways and trails to appreciate the vibrant rainforest ecosystem and its rich biodiversity.
Pick up from your hotel in Sandakan, drive to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre. Visit to Outdoor Nursery, witness the morning feeding of orang utans in the forest, watch the scheduled video programme about the Orang Utan (25mins) at the Nature Education Centre. After that, proceed to Labuk Bay Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary that offers another perfect proboscis monkeys observation spot for any tourist who wants to have a closer look at these very unique primate. The sanctuary is located at the centre of the mangrove forest along the coastal land near Samawang Village at Labuk Bay, Sandakan. If you love taking close up pictures of the Proboscis Monkey, this is the best place. Currently there are 3 family groups and 1 bachelor group in the sanctuary. A chance to see Silver Leaf Monkey, Pig tailed Macaque, Oriental Pied Hornbill, Otter, White-bellied Woodpecker and Kingfishers too.
Proceed to lunch at SJR. Afternoon 1330hrs, visit to The Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre to see the world’s smallest bear in its natural environment. After that, transfer to Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC). RDC is situated within the famous Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. The Exhibition Centre and the Plant Discovery Centre will bring you a lot of information about the nature in the area. After that, a chance to walk on a suspension bridge and ending it with the only Sky Walk (620 metres long) in Sandakan. The 28 metres above ground walkway allows you to walk among the rainforest giants such as the mengaris trees. After tour, transfer to Sandakan Airport/ Town.
