A 3D2N Sandakan Nature Safari provides an immersive wildlife adventure in Borneo. On Day 1, the tour includes visits to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, where you can observe orangutans being rehabilitated and prepared for release into the wild. It also includes a stop at the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, dedicated to the conservation of the endangered sun bear. Afterward, the tour heads to the Kinabatangan River, Malaysia’s second-longest river, for a river cruise where visitors can spot a variety of wildlife, including proboscis monkeys, pygmy elephants, and a wide range of bird species. On Day 2, the safari continues with more river cruising, giving travelers further opportunities to observe wildlife in its natural habitat. The area is known for its rich biodiversity, including various primates, reptiles, and exotic birds. In the evening, a night river cruise offers a chance to spot nocturnal animals. The tour concludes on Day 3 with a final morning river cruise and a nature walk through the surrounding rainforest, known for its vibrant ecosystem and dense vegetation. The Kinabatangan region is a hotspot for eco-tourism, offering an unforgettable wildlife experience in Borneo’s rainforests.

D1 - SEPILOK ORANG UTAN / BORNEAN SUN BEAR / KINABATANGAN RIVER / NIGHT WALK / OVERNIGHT AT TANINI KINABATAGAN (L/D)

Pick up at Sandakan area and transfer to Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Center. At this world renowned center, come face to face with human’s closest relative, the Orang Utans. Orang Utans share 97% of the same DNA as humans. (feeding time is at 1000 hrs). After that, continue the trip by visiting the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Center. The sun bear is the smallest, most arboreal and least known of the bear family measuring between 120–150 cm long and between 60-78 cm high at the shoulder. Then proceed for lunch at a Mango Garden Restaurant. After lunch, transfer to the Tanini Kinabatangan which is located at the Lower Kinabatangan River Sanctuary. The journey will take approximately 2 hours, passing by Kota Kinabatangan town and also oil palm plantation. Transfer from the Kampung Bilit jetty to Tanini Kinabatangan, just 3 minutes by boat across the River. Welcome drinks will be served upon arrival. After which, guests will be given a verbal orientation of the Lodge and the surrounding area. Proceed to check into the chalets of Tanini Kinabatangan. Afternoon boat cruise at 1600 hrs to search for wildlife and bird-life along the Kinabatangan river banks. Return to Lodge to freshen up and then enjoy dinner in the midst of the Kampung Bilit secondary jungle! Right after dinner, go for a guided night walks to enjoy the wilderness and watch sleeping birds and nocturnal creatures of the jungle. Overnight at the Lodge.

D2 - KINABATANGAN RIVER / OX-BOW LAKE / NIGHT WALK / OVERNIGHT AT TANINI KINABATAGAN (B/L/D)

Catch the beautiful sight of the misty Kinabatangan River at 0500 hrs. Join the boat cruise at 0600 hrs and see the exciting wildlife as they just awake from a night sleep. Various species of wildlife may be seen such as Proboscis Monkeys, Leaf Monkeys, Macaques, Gibbons and even the Orang Utans. Return back for breakfast at 0800 hrs. After breakfast at 0900 hrs, proceed on foot with our professional jungle guide to the Bilit Ox-Bow Lake behind the Lodge. This is the time to get an up close and personal glimpse of exquisite insects and birds life. You will also walk on the path of the newly discovered “Borneo Pygmy Elephants” (relatively, it’s the smallest elephant in the world). Return to the Lodge for lunch at 1200 hrs. Rest after lunch and another boat ride at 1600 hrs awaits you to cruise along the Kinabatangan River for more wildlife sight-seeing. Return before dinner at 1800 hrs. Dinner will be served at the Lodge. After that, there will be another guided night walk, this time using a different route. Then overnight at the Lodge.

D3 - KINABATANGAN RIVER

Don’t be surprised to be woken up by the calls of gibbons and hornbills. At 0600 hrs, take a morning river cruise to see more birds and wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast at 0700 hrs. Check-out at 0830hrs. Continue your journey back to Sandakan and drop-off at either your accommodation or Sandakan
airport.
