DAY 1 KOTA KINABALU / MALIAU BASIN / NIGHT DRIVE / OVERNIGHT AT STUDIES CENTRE (L/D)
0700hrs Depart for 5-6 hours overland journey to Sook, Nabawan, Sapulut to reach the Security Gate of Maliau Basin Conservation Area (MBCA) with lunch on route. Expected to arrive at Maliau Gate at 2PM. Upon arrival, guest will be served with a welcoming drink at the Maliau Basin Shell Building. Free and easy while strolling around the Information Gallery, or you can also have a light snack at the Maliau Cafe. 1400hrs: Expected to arrive at Maliau Gate. Guest will be served with a welcoming drink at the Maliau Basin Shell Building. Free and easy while strolling around the Information Gallery, oryoucanalso have a light snack at the Maliau Cafe. 3.00PM Proceed to Maliau Basin Studies Centre. 1530hrs: Expected to arrive at the Studies Centre, Check-In. The shop next to the reception counter offer you a choice of souvenirs to bring home. 1700hrs: Visit the Nature Gallery and learn about the beauty and uniqueness of the Enchanted Lost World of Borneo. 1900hrs: Dinner at Maliau Basin Dalit Dining Hall. 2000hrs: Proceed to Maliau Basin AV Lounge for a short video show (Introduction of MBCA) and take note of the Do’s & Don'ts while being at the studies centre. 2030hrs: Maliau Safari Night Drive into the darkness of the lost world and gets a glimpse of the wild roaming nocturnal animals. If weather does not permit, you will be taken for a Maliau Safari Dawn Drive on the next day (as early as 5:00 am) 2200hrs: Goodnight and have a good rest!
DAY 2 AGATHIS CAMP / TREKKING / OVERNIGHT AT NEPENTHES CAMP DORM (B/L/D)
0700hrs: Breakfast at Dalit Dining Hall. 0800hrs Depart to Agathis Camp - the entrance to your journey into the lost world. (Packed lunch provided) 0830hrs Start your journey into the wilderness on foot for about 7.5 km (4-6 hour) to reach Nepenthes Camp. You will walk across the southern Basin rim through steep hills. Experience the forest changes from a mixed dipterocarp forest to lower montane forest with fewer tall trees. Spot at least six species of pitcher-plants, many species of Rhododendron and varieties of wild orchid along your way. (Difficulty rate: Challenging) Take a rest around noon to have your lunch. 1300hrs: Expected to arrive at the Nepenthes Camp or previously called Camel Trophy Campat 945meters elevation. Have a good rest before your next journey!330hrs: Begin your journey to explore another wondrous 3 km trek to Giluk Falls, an easy-to-negotiate trail branch off northeast. (Advisable to bring headlight) 1430hrs: Expected to arrive at Giluk Falls. 1600hrs: Trek back to Nepenthes Camp. 1630hrs: Free and Easy 1900hrs: Dinner at Nepenthes Camp 2200hrs: Overnight at Nepenthes R.S. (Dormitory style) Good night and have a good rest!
DAY 3 TREKKING / 7 TIERS CASCADING WATER / OVERNIGHT AT GINSENG CAMP DORM (B/L/D)
0700hrs: Breakfast 0800hrs : Bring along your bag pack and start your 10 km (7 hours) journey to the 7-tiered Majestic Maliau Waterfalls. (Difficulty rate: moderate to challenging) - Packed lunch provided 1430hrs: Expected to arrive at Maliau Falls. The breathtaking 7-tiers of cascading water was said by the Murut people as a home to a mythical water-dragon. These waterfalls riverine stairways and avenues are unique and among the most beautiful features of the Basin. In fact, the Basin is thought to have more waterfalls in its 390sq. kms than any other place in Malaysia, possibly in the world! The Basin is drained by the tributaries of the Maliau River, which descends the magnificent Maliau Falls, before flowing through a gorge out of the south-east of the Basin into the Kuamut river which in turn feeds the mighty Kinabatangan, the longest river in Sabah. 1530hrs: Trek to Ginseng Camp to spend your night. (Bring headlight) 1730hrs Expected to arrive at Ginseng Camp (at 645 meters elevation) and rest. 1900hrs Dinner 10:00hrs Overnight at Ginseng Camp. (Dormitory style) Good night and have a good rest!
DAY 4 GINSENG WATERFALL / TREKKING / KOTA KINABALU (B/L/D)
0700hrs: Breakfast 0730hrs: Embark on a 15 minutes’ walk to Ginseng Waterfall. One of the many wondrous waterfalls in Maliau Basin. 0800hrs: Trek back to Ginseng Camp 0830hrs: Group Photos at Ginseng Camp Pack all your belongings (including your litter), make sure you leave nothing but footprints .Begin your journey back to Agathis Camp for another 9 km jungle trekking. - Packed lunch provided 1300hrs: Expected to arrive at Agathis Camp and thereafter, depart to Maliau Shell Building to check-out. 1400hrs: Depart from Maliau Basin 1800hrs: Before head back enjoy your dinner before drop at Kota Kinabalu Hotel. 2000hrs: Estimated arrival in Kota Kinabalu hotel
